1 Arrival
Day
2 You will be picked up by car from Le Vert and driven
to the orchard of Mademoiselle Goul. From there you will set
off with Daniel and the donkey to walk through the beauty
of the Quercy Blanc. You will pass through the Lavender Distillery
where Maryse Thevenet will explain to you how they still make
the oil in the Quercy though this is very much a dying art.
You will arrive for lunch at Lario to meet the artists. After
lunch you will carry on foot with Daniel to Montcuq and there
either be instructed on the game of pétanque or sit
at the bar beneath the lofty chestnut tree and have a drink
and read a book before you will be picked up by car. 14km
Day
3 You will be picked up by car and driven to the tiny
one church two house village of Soussis. From there you will
continue by foot with Daniel and donkey across the causses
of the Quercy Blanc. You pass the windmill of Bagor and on
through the tiny white stone villages to Chateau Figeac where
you will meet the artists for lunch. After lunch a trek along
the pilgrim trail with Daniel to the hilltop bastide town
of Lauzerte founded in the early thirteenth century. Here
you will arrive once more at the bar in the central square
where you will be picked up by car. 18km
Day
4 Everybody is driven to Cahors for the market. In the
afternoon everybody is driven to the little port of Bouziès
on the river Lot. From here we all walk to St Cirq Lapopie
along the famous tow path cut into the cliff face just above
the river level. Time to relax before dinner in what is regarded
as one of the prettiest villages of France. 4km
Day
5 We all visit the wonderful pre-historic cave of Pech
Merle. This, along with Lascaux and Font de Gaume is one of
the most important caves of the area. From there we drive
to Marcilhac to have lunch chez Pierrette. This is where Pompidou
used to lunch when he was on holiday. In the afternoon a walk
from Marcilhac to Sauliac with Daniel and donkey. From Sauliac
a drive back to St Cirq Lapopie. 8km
Day
6 You walk with Daniel and donkey to Cénévieres.
Here the artists join you for lunch on the terrace of the
chateau looking out to the hilltop village of Calvignac across
the river Lot. Drive back to St Cirq Lapopie. 10km
Day
7 We all drive back to Toulouse for the last day.
